Welcome to Kent Blade Works — a small business built around dogs, grooming and scissors. That’s pretty much it!
We’re Ben and Ryan, partners in life and business. Together we run a dog boarding and daycare business, alongside a busy grooming salon and Kent Blade Works, so our lives revolve around dogs from morning until night.
Kent Blade Works began when Ryan trained as a dog groomer. We quickly realised that finding genuinely good grooming scissors often meant paying eye-watering prices, with far too much emphasis placed on the badge engraved on the blade rather than how well the scissors actually performed.
Before ever selling scissors, I trained as a professional sharpener. Before that, I spent many years working with luxury mechanical watches, where craftsmanship, engineering and attention to detail were everything. That experience shaped how I look at tools. If something is made well, you can feel it the moment you pick it up.
So we set out to build a range that focused on quality first.
Every pair of KBW scissors is designed for working groomers. Made from premium steel, they’re lightweight, comfortable and built to perform through long days in the salon without carrying a luxury-brand price tag.
Nothing joins the KBW range without earning its place. Every design is used in the salon, assessed on the sharpening bench and tested in day-to-day grooming before it’s offered to our customers.
Sharpening remains at the heart of what I do. Trained at the UK Sharpening School using Wolff Industries methods, I restore and maintain professional scissors using specialist machinery alongside traditional hand-finishing on Japanese wet stones. We also offer a nationwide sharpening service with free return postage across the UK.
Kent Blade Works has never been about chasing trends or spending fortunes on marketing. We’d rather invest in better steel, better engineering and better aftercare than inflated price tags. We believe good scissors shouldn’t cost a week’s wages.
That’s the philosophy behind every pair we sell: honest tools, honest advice and craftsmanship that speaks for itself.
